Course Description

This unit aims to introduce learners to B&W photographic darkroom practice including the competent and safe use of materials and technology in the processing of film and prints.

What you’ll learn

How to Develop photographic film

  • The Development Process: Develop the technical skills necessary to produce high-quality black-and-white photographs from start to finish.

  • Chemical Knowledge: Gain hands-on experience in safely using darkroom equipment, chemicals, and materials for processing film and creating prints.

Making B&W contact sheets and Prints

  • Creating Contact Sheets: Step-by-step process for making your own contact sheets and techniques for properly arranging and exposing negatives.

  • Evaluating Results: Learn how to analyze your developed film for exposure and contrast, making adjustments for future shoots based on your observations.

Feedback & Specific Question

  • Ask questions of our professional tutor in real time

Knowledge on films

Our studio is located near Shoreditch, and the course will take place in and around this vibrant area. Shoreditch offers a variety of locations, providing diverse settings for practicing location lighting techniques. From urban streets to hidden spots, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to explore and apply different lighting methods in real-world environments.

What if I am not good at English?
